Delhi Mobile Phone Bangladesh Smuggling

Delhi Police Seizes Contraband Mobile Phones Worth Rs 2 Crore Smuggled From Bangladesh

High-Value Cache Intercepted in Joint Operation With Customs Officials

Arrests Made, Further Probe Underway

In a significant operation, Delhi Police and Customs officials have intercepted a large consignment of contraband mobile phones valued at over Rs 2 crore that were being smuggled from Bangladesh. The joint operation led to the arrest of several individuals involved in the illegal activity.

Acting on specific intelligence, the Delhi Police Special Cell and Customs officials raided a warehouse in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area. During the raid, they seized a total of 3,000 high-end mobile phones concealed in a truck. The phones were of various brands and models, with an estimated market value of Rs 2.5 crore.

Further investigation revealed that the mobile phones were smuggled into India from Bangladesh through illegal border crossings. The smuggled goods were then being distributed in various parts of Delhi and neighboring states.

The arrested individuals are being interrogated to ascertain their roles in the smuggling racket and to identify other members of the network. Delhi Police has registered a case under the Customs Act and is investigating the matter further.

This seizure highlights the ongoing problem of smuggling and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat it. The large-scale smuggling of contraband goods, including mobile phones, not only deprives the government of revenue but also poses a threat to national security.

The successful operation is a result of effective coordination between the Delhi Police and Customs officials. It is expected to disrupt the smuggling network and send a strong message against such illegal activities.
